Suzanne Selfors

One of our students enjoyed reading Suzanne Selfors's humorous, adventure, Smells Like Dog.  She accepted the offer to visit Suzanne at her website, and left an invitation for her to visit our classroom blog.  What a treat!  Suzanne responded with an email and a comment on our blog.  Thank you Suzanne Selfors for your great literature, for taking time to respond, and for reminding us that it pays for fifth graders to use "their voice."

Hello, Mrs. Dongell, 5th graders, and especially A B!

Thank you so much for the invitation to visit your class blog. You certainly are a busy group. I’m impressed by your list of excellent favorite books.

I’m delighted to know that Andrea is enjoying ON HER WAY, and I really appreciate her taking the time to write and tell me so. The book was a lot of fun to put together. I think all of the authors and poets who contributed to it did a great job.

I hope some of you will also read the companion book, DUDE! STORIES AND STUFF FOR BOYS, which I co-edited with my friend and fellow writer, David L. Harrison.

If you have any questions about my books or plays or about writing in general, please let me know. I’ll be happy to try to answer them.

Thank you, again, and keep on reading!

    All good wishes,
    Sandy Asher

I was so excited when Suzanne Selfers and Wendy Mass visited our website. It was an honor.
I know that most of the girls and a couple of the boys have read a few of Wendy’s books. I have read one of my favorites, 13 Birthdays. I am waiting to read her new book, The Candymakers!
Wendy Mass, and Suzanne Selfors are the type of authors that will respond to your “fan mail”. That’s how they were on our website, and another reason they were on our website is because kids have a voice and a student used it. Please keep writing great books Wendy Mass; you too Suzanne Selfors. We love your books! 😉

Right now I’m reading Suzanne’s book Smells Like Dog. I am really enjoying it! 🙂 (Even though I’m not more than a third into it.) I am planning on reading Suzanne’s Smells like Treasure to learn more about Homer and his dog that can smell treasure. I like the type of fictional writing that Mrs. Selfors does. I hope to read all her books.
