What a treat! Having Buck Wilder visit our school was a highlight. Students enjoyed his humor, his stories, his tips on creativity, and his encouragement to enjoy reading and writing. After studying a few of his adventure stories, students choose their own settings, characters, problems and solutions. We now have a great set of our own creative adventures. Our winning author, who wrote "The Adventures of Manny Manatee," received an autographed copy of one of Buck Wilder's books.

"Thanks so much for your email!  Judy wishes there was a way she could read all of the email her readers send.  Sadly, it's just not possible, especially when she's trying to write (she just started a new book).  Not enough time in the day.  Hope you understand.  She'll be glad to know you enjoyed Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing & wishes you the best of luck with the rest of the school year.  Take care, and remember, keep reading!"   peg@judyblume.com

Thank you, Sandy Asher, for taking time to comment on our blog.  We like the variety of the different contributors in    On Her Way.  It must be exciting to work with so many talented writers.  We will have to take your recommendation and read Dude! Stories and Stuff for Boys.

One of our students enjoyed reading Suzanne Selfors's humorous, adventure, Smells Like Dog.  She accepted the offer to visit Suzanne at her website, and left an invitation for her to visit our classroom blog.  What a treat!  Suzanne responded with an email and a comment on our blog.  Thank you Suzanne Selfors for your great literature, for taking time to respond, and for reminding us that it pays for fifth graders to use "their voice."
